This is the fine art portfolio of Rusty Kinnunen. Although he is versatile in many technological mediums; painting and drawing are his first loves, and the primary expression of his creative energy. It is with the hands-on skill, and the trained eye of a painter that he approaches the mediums of photography, video, and graphic design.
Rusty's paintings are primarily representational in nature, with an eye toward recording the everyday visual experience, even in some cases, the mundane. Some images have a more illustrative feel with characters in a narrative scene, but Rusty deliberately tries to avoid the obvious reading. Rusty is an avid student of art history, and often his pictures are inspired by or refer to his artistic heroes. And yet, many of his paintings are landscapes, or still lifes painted purely for the joy and challenge of painting. He works in many different mediums, including oils, acrylics, watercolor, egg tempera, and various drawing mediums.
